Once you have PLANed your webinar and have defined the registration process it’s time to think about how you are going to engage your audience. Asking polling questions is one way you can do that. Polling is useful because it can help you qualify your audience and help to define your best prospects. It’s also the easiest and quickest way to find out more about what your audience wants.
However, you’re never going to engage your audience if your presentation skills are less than perfect. Practice is key. You don’t want your potential or current clients or members to think you are only exerting half the effort required to put on a webinar for them. People like to feel special, so make sure your webinar is the best it can be. Run through your presentation several times – out loud – to be sure you are familiar enough with the topic to sound natural and engaging.
After your webinar, immediate follow-up is critical. Lack of follow-up can doom an otherwise effective webinar. Acknowledge all registrants by email immediately following the event. For those who attended, send a “thank you for attending” email, and instructions on how to access the archive of the event. For those who registered but didn’t attend, send them a “sorry we missed you” email and if possible, include a link to the archived event so they can participate on their own time. Utilize a post-event survey feature to gain valuable feedback from participants.
Carefully study the reports and polling/survey information in order to help you determine your “hottest” leads. These leads should be contacted directly by phone within 24 hours of the webinar. The rest of the leads should be called no later than 5 days after the event. A week later and the prospects have long forgotten about your webinar. Post your archived webinars on your website so they can continue to work for you, long after the live event has ended.
